2012 Daqingshan summer course morning session started
The Daqingshan Taiji summer course morning session started on May 4, 2012. There will be classes every morning from 5:30 am to 7:30 am in front of the Magnolia Hotel. Singapore 2012 Workshop Review|2012年新加坡讲座评论
Jaws Loi I attended Master’s Chen’s 1st Practical Method Workshop in Singapore, much thanks to the host and organizer Michael Koh. In Master Chen’s workshop, Master Chen didn’t run through the Yilu steps with us but instead emphasized a lot of how to do the positive circles properly, correcting our understanding on the principles of Taiji Quan and how the circles are applied which is a real eye opener. Master Chen is considered small built even by Asian size but his martial ability is amazing.
In Master Chen’s mini lessons in Singapore, he continues to refine our positive circle and also covered the exercises (these can be found in Basic Foundations video in his website). Again Master Chen explained and showed us the application aspects of these exercises. As I start to study how to do the Yilu form, I understand why Master Chen places so much emphasis on the foundations. Without the positive circle and negative circle performed correctly till it becomes second nature, one will need more time to correct the “incorrect circles” made in the form. Wrong practice also reinforces the mistakes made. I recommend all those who are picking up the Practical Method to get the Basic Foundations video as a reference and also the Chinese version too as it provides another angle of viewing. I also recommend attending Master Chen’s workshops as there are some things which cannot be learnt or picked up from just watching the videos.

Nick Mann accepted as Master Chen Zhonghua's 89's disciple|尼克曼成为陈中华老师的第89为入室弟子
In a simple ceremony in Toronto on Sept. 25th, 2011, Nick Mann of Guelph, Ontario became Master Chen Zhonghua's 89's indoor disciple. Nick started Chen Style Taijiquan with Master Chen in 2005 and has attended many workshops and two full time training courses on Daqingshan, China. Flying to Ottawa today. Workshop will start on Friday. Sunday night driving to New Hampshire after the workshop. I will stay in the east till the 4-day workshop in Toronto next week.

Enroute to Vancouver. This weekend is the start of our Maple Ridge 2011-12 school year. Each year the Chen Style Taijiquan Practical Method Greater Vancouver group meets in Maple Ridge, B.C. 10 weekends.
